I have accidentally replace a folder in my desktop with an empty folder that supposed to be sent to trash.
The folder deleted has a lot of files i needed for work.
Please let me know if it is still possible to be restored and how.

No, it is not possible to restore anything that was overwritten. If you have backups, then restore from your backup.
Time Machine does the backup for you without have waste any of your productive time.
Apple should change this overwritten approach, I also have a similar experiences, all my years works, important documents lost just in a second just because I save textedit and replace my folder without any confirmation.
Really disappointed.
It would make much more sense if the system would offer options "Overwrite" or "Merge folders". Hating because of missing backup doesn't make sense. I've just managed to rewrite few hours old files because I wanted to merge them with some other folder. This should really be changed.
I have done the same thing today. I've lost days work only, but what a **** design. on other operating systems, the files are still kept that are not over written but all mine disappeared.

If you read what I put. I have, I did. but lost today because I can't waste my productive time backing up my machine all day instead of working. I hate Windows but never lost a file. I use Linux, never lost a file. Mac, i loose stuff all the time.
I used Mac for productivity but it seems to give me more problems. I've already wiped my other mac and put Windows 10 on it as a back. but with a MacBook pro and always out and about you don't have time the back the drive up every hour. I now back up to google because files go missing in icloud.
Using Time Machine for years and many times it didn't saved me. In case of drive wiped or whole system collapse it's great but when I need to restore some specific files or like here specific conversation restoring to earlier date didn't helped me.

They will not reply, but it does get read.
There is an extremely simply solution to your problem, start making backups.
No. Rather then Apple changing anything, what is needed is that you start backing your data up. That is the real solution to that problem.
The only one you can be disappointed with is yourself as long as you continue to not backup your data.
Restore the folder from you backup taken before you replace it
Unfortunately, no back-up made. also tried wondershare data recovery but it is hard to locate all files in the folder. any other suggestion?
You are out of luck. Once you overwrite a file or folder, then that file or folder is lost forever. It is quite different from simply deleting something accidentally.
If the data is that valuable and you are not backing it up that is just silly.
Now that you have lost data I certainly hope you have learned your lesson and will implement a backup plan now.
