Nov 18, 2014 3:18 AM in response to VinceCharmingby slumper,I'm concerned that the original download of ios 8 has damaged the hardware, making any ios update effectively redundant. I do not know if this is possible but until shown otherwise what am I left it!?
Good luck to you all with the new update, my reckoning was it couldn't get any worse so didn't hesitate in downloading.
Not only have Apple destroyed the ipad but I now have to explain to a three year why she can't watch Netflix. This severely impacts on me because my tv now plays Nick Jr instead

Nov 18, 2014 5:27 AM in response to VinceCharmingby Ken Haggerty,Since I can get no support, replies or solutions from Apple Corp. through standard venues (i.e. "feedback"), I'm going to start writing to Tim Cook directly. Everyday. Five times per day. I don't yet know a proper address, but he has a Twitter account. What if everyday.....nay; five times per day, he got 10,000 complaints from us about his operating system? Do you think he might start looking into the problem? Let's all start now:

Nov 18, 2014 6:09 AM in response to Ken Haggertyby Briansyddall,Hi New Software Update out now ios 8.1.1 this helps to fix problems for older iPhones/ iPads Give it a try. Why is it some people like me NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS. I have to top of Range Router Netgear 6300 sometimes the Router that your I S P gives you is only a basic one. Not all problems are your Apple Devices. We have 2 iPhones & 3 iPads no problems. Every 2 Months or if I think my devices or slowing down. I restore back to Factory Settings. Cheers Brian

Did 8.1.1 cure your woes or is your iPad 2 still an expensive paperweight?

Nov 18, 2014 8:58 PM in response to jmi2by Pete Kroner,Installed 8.1.1 on iPad. Install seemed simple but long. All seems to work well exceptI couldn't get the "reply" button to work on iPad so I'm on my iMac.
WiFi and apps seem to work well.....I have no complaints at this time.

Nov 19, 2014 1:12 AM in response to VinceCharmingby VinceCharming,Seemed fairly stable, however upon transfering files to the iPad it crashed out, just waiting for it to reboot and then see how it goes, could have just been a file size thing, quite a large movie file over 2 gig

Nov 19, 2014 2:23 AM in response to VinceCharmingby texas0073,I now have a f***in PAPERWEIGHT!! iPad2 Wi-Fi 32GB dead. Tried every possible solution and got nothing. Now it will not turn on at all, will not enter DFU, nor will it even show battery when plugged into the mains. When plugged into Mac it is recognised by iTunes at least but when I click for restore it hangs everytime on ' Waiting for iPad '
So angry at this iOS8. It could not have ran any better before this update.
I have Mac, MacBook Pro, iPhone 5 & 5S in my household, totally turned my back on Microsoft - Seems now for what.

Nov 19, 2014 2:59 AM in response to texas0073by slumper,Exactly what I have too.
When the restarting got too much with ios 8.1 I left it on standby for a day or two and it stabilised, not perfect but usable. The 8.1.1 install was horrific, crashed mid install, wouldn't turn on after, in and out with recognition from itunes so I tried to put in into standby again.
Bloody thing is doing cpr on itself, I walked into the dark room and the apple logo was glowing in the corner, it's just trying to turn itself on... I shall have to call him Hal.
I'm just waiting for the constant self inflicted cpr to waste the battery so Hal can sleep and hopefully regain some stability again.

Nov 19, 2014 1:33 PM in response to VinceCharmingby JoseyJo69,Vince, I did the IOS 8 update and my Ipad wouldn't switch on; I plugged it in to my computer and it did the recovery thing that resets to factory settings. Now I am just getting the on/off flashing apple sign.
I have read loads of comments about what has been suggested but some are quite high tech! Do you have any suggestions what I could try please? (With simple directions!)
Thank you, JoseyJo69
