Q: iPad 2 keeps crashing rebooting after ios 8 update

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios 8 I have had numerous problems with it, first thing that happened was the accesscibility features came on and would'nt turn off, had to attach to my mac and disable them in itunes, also while this was occuring the ipad 2 kept randomly rebooting, this is still occuring, I have so far done a soft reset and a hard reset, I've done a restore, I've updated to ios 8.2 and still the same things happening, this is starting to get very annoying.

iPad 2 was working fine until this update . .  please can anyone assist . . .

It was worth a try, at least I get more response on here to my questions and queries than I do from Apple Customer Support.

    Hi,

I had similar problem in the last week of March 2015 when iOS8.2 patch is released, after installation in couple of days in went into boot loop mode, still not working.

Please see below threads for info, tried various options but no solution yet.

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6984462

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6921623

Similar like your case Apple Support told me related to Hardware issue - I was told charging port is problem but I can vouch that battery is charging even today without power source iPad getting to boot loop if battery problem or charging problem it will not charge again.

Please review my earlier threads, if possible help.

    Regards

I actually managed to fix the rebooting issue with my iPad. I installed iBackupBot, connected the iPad, and had a look at the log as it was crashing. In my case, it turned out that a process called com.apple.datamigrator kept starting and, because some Apple Maps files were corrupted, caused a EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) resulting in the reboots. I managed to extract these files from another backup (from my iPhone actually) and import them into this backup, also using iBackupBot. I restored this and the iPad now works again as it should.

I tried using iBackupBot using my iPad Air it does not recognized the device, as iPad is re-booting always (boot loop).

To verify iBackupBot I tried my iPhone 4, logs are coming up fine I mean it is collecting the logs.

Is there a way get log details in a re-booting/boot loop iPad device please.

    Regards

All I can suggest is you continue to see if you can resolve the issue yourself with assistance from the Apple community, as much like myself, it would appear that Apple Support are not willing to help unless you pay the Out of Warranty service charge.

I'll have a look at this, but not holding out much hope, but anything better than being charged £206

My iPad with 8.3 is still mysteriously rebooting itself and or freezing several time a day.

Is this why the sales and popularity of the iPad has dropped so dramatically recently according to business reports?

Until they get this fixed no one can recommend Apple iPads...and there are so many equal contenders at the market place.

Apple will never fess up to selling a slew of iPad lemons. The best

strategy  for them is to ignore the past and focus on the future. I too

ended up with an iPad brick after updating to iOS8. I don't touch my iPad3

anymore and am consumer shy to purchase another.

The standard logfiles/crash reports do not have sufficient details to tell you which part of the data is throwing errors during migration. You'd need to install something like iBackupBot (the free trial version is fine for this) and follow the actual logs as a crash is happening. If you post that online somewhere I can try and take a look.

I wouldn't even bother contacting Apple Support/Customer Services to find out what the fault is, as their only bit of advice revolves around you spending £200+ for an out of warranty repair, no real answers will be given.

I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms and have also tried all the steps you have.  The black reboot screen comes up about every minute!  This is so maddening!  I've restored, and done everything.  Still no success.

You too probably have a hardware failure then at a guess, you could try reaching out to Apple Customer Services or Support and see if they can help you, but don't expect any straight answers back, took about 1-2 months before they actually gave me any sort of answer as to what the hardware fault was, then told me it would cost £206 to repair as it was out of warranty.

But then again you could be one of the lucky ones who have had theirs swapped out FOC for having something like the home button not working . . . very strange system they have for deciding who pays and who doesn't, I'm actually emailing customer service every day at the moment asking how they decide, but my emails are still being ignored as they deem the case closed.

Good luck and please post how you get on, as I'm sure everyone else reading this would like to see how others get on with Apple Customer Service/Support.

    I know I'll be interested.

I had the same problem  and I did everything reboot and restart restore nothing happened then I did a restore to factory default but set it up as a new device that seemed to help as I only downloaded one or two of my apps from the cloud  and it has yet to crash

Finally read through the whole thread.  Bravo, VinceCharming!  Sad to know that noone has really come up with a solid solution for the issue though.

Am having the same issue.... my ipad isn't staying up long enough for me to install new IOS version or sync.... it's frustrating!
