Q: iPad 2 keeps crashing rebooting after ios 8 update

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios 8 I have had numerous problems with it, first thing that happened was the accesscibility features came on and would'nt turn off, had to attach to my mac and disable them in itunes, also while this was occuring the ipad 2 kept randomly rebooting, this is still occuring, I have so far done a soft reset and a hard reset, I've done a restore, I've updated to ios 8.2 and still the same things happening, this is starting to get very annoying.

iPad 2 was working fine until this update . .  please can anyone assist . . .

I would say that this was a successful resolution! That was a good deal and now you have a model which will have a longer product life than the one before.

As for the hardware failure ... if the iPad is self-reporting a hardware failure on it's logs, there's not too much to say about it, one way or another. It simply has to be replaced, and that's the end of the story. All in all, with this hardware failure, I would say you came out pretty good!

I seem to have the same problem....sporadic stop and go freezing and then a black screen with the white apple logo for several minutes.

I've never experienced this problem before updating to 8.1

    Does apple ahem a fix?

I've never heard of such a problem with any other tablet.

Is Apple recommending going back to 7?

    Pete

No, Apple has never gone back to an earlier version, since the beginning of iOS on the first iPhone.

But one thing to be aware of is that at every major upgrade in the iOS there has always been glitches and bugs that require minor updates. And actually that's been the case with every computer company and product I've ever seen in the last 30 years, not to say anything about the iOS in the last 7 years.

What Apple does is take the Apple Support cases to the software engineers to analyze problems and then issue fixes. This kind of process has been going on forever in the computer world ... :-) ...

If you haven't submitted an Apple Support case yet, then do so, and then it can be analyzed and fixed if it requires one. However, they may have a solution for you, but you'll have to find out. At the very least you should have a hardware check, as I've been reading about users here who have had hardware failures on their iPads.

    Star Traveller, ]

just venting mate, have had it up to here with Apple and I've been down the official channels and been to the Genius Bar etc etc, where they did a reset to factory defaults and it still crashed/looped and they then had to go get a Manager who told me it was a Hardware fault, this by the way was without anyone actually doing anything apart from the reset, no one looking at log/crash files, no one doing any diagnostic's on it, nothing/nada, all I got was "Its a hardware fault, its out of warranty, choice are buy another or see how much we can do a trade in"

So hope you'll understand why I'm venting.

According to various tech news articles, there is a revision coming out (iOS 8.1.1) that is supposed to address some issues having to do with the older chip in the iPad and iPhone older models. Keep an eye open for that one and see what happens from other user reports. This might be the thing that helps out a number of iPad 2 owners who are still having problems.

Saw this. They are putting it to beta now and this is the first time they've done this with a minor update.

    Fingers crossed anyway.

iPad still crashing but thankfully not as often as when it first started. I turned it off completely and let it rest for a few days, I think it appreciated that. My ipad doesn't have a cellular connection so its hard to troubleshoot the wifi option.

Should I just finally throw in the towel and stop spending more money on Apple Products for defectiveness? I have had to replace iPods because Apple wants to charge me the same price for a replacement battery as the price of the ipod, the battery only lasts one year. Yet, I have bought hundreds of itune songs. They don't care, they want to charge me for outrageous battery replacement prices. The adapter cords start wearing out on my iPad within weeks of useage, thus requiring me to buy more replacements for them. Now, the IOS 8 update has caused my Ipad 2 to freeze over and over, causing me to lose stuff I was working on. Why are Apple products so bad when it comes to quality and they treat us like open wallets when it comes to the way they treat us when it is the company's fault. Microsoft has never treated me like this when it comes to their product defects and replacements.
