I am using AirPort Extreme for my wireless network. I have now a  Airport Express which I would like to use to extend the range of the Extreme. How do I make it work?. I have an iMac.

We are going to need more information from you in order to help.

We don't know what model of AirPort Extreme that you have. We assume that you have a previous version "flat, square" shaped AirPort Extreme or the new "tower" shaped version. Would that be correct?

We also don't know whether you plan to use the new AirPort Express to extend the network by having it connect to the AirPort Extreme using a wired Ethernet connection (highly recommended)....or....whether you want to try to have the Express connect to the AirPort Extreme using wireless (which will result in a performance drop on the network).

Finally, we don' know what operating system your iMac is using, and we need to know that in order to provide the correct steps for setting up the AirPort Express to extend in the manner that you choose.

If you are not sure what operating system your iMac is using......click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X version number that you see there.
