iPhone 6 stuck on red screen/apple logo

Brand new iPhone 6 randomly crashed and is stuck alternating between a red screen and the apple logo.

Tried to do a full restore through iTunes but no luck. Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it?

iPhone 6, iOS 8, not updated to IOS 8.0.2

Had the exactly the same issue with my Iphone 6 two days ago. This is without any doubt a hardware failure. It started 4 days after receiving the phone and while i was able to restart the phone with 2-3 try at first, it will deteriorate to a point of total damage. A day after the Problems first appearance , my phone was neither able to boot nor recognized in iTunes. So i called Apple Care (90 Days telephone support) and received an new (not refurbished since this is a very new product) immediately a day later with ""Express Change". It will cost you 29€ (in Germany, not sure about $) and Apple will block, not charge, your Credit Card with the price of you iPhone Model. This is, because they directly send you a new device and you'll have to return your old one with a retoure package Apple sends you with your new phone. i wasn't even able to delete my data, because the device was really dead. Do not hesitate to contact Apple. Your iPhone is not fixable and a warranty case. The bad side is that without paying these 29 bucks for express service, you will have to wait up to 10 day for an exchange device.

OK, I still recommend use iTunes.

you can try this:

1: Connect the iPhone to your computer via the USB cable.

2: Put your iPhone in DFU mode

To do this, press and hold Home & Power button for 10 seconds.

After that, release the power button but keep pressing the home button.

iTunes will popup saying it detects a device in the DFU mode

3: If all is successful, you can "Restore" your iPhone now.

Tips: What I must say is that this way is not suitable for those who haven't backup their data. And if you get errors when you try to restore, you may need other tools.

Hope it is useful.

Hello there, markmoor16.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting iOS when it is not fucntioning as expected:

iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281

  1. If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
  2. If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
  3. If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
  4. If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    1. If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    2. Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    3. If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    4. If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
  5. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    1. Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    2. If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    3. If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
  6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Cheers,

Pedro.

Have the same problem. iPhone 6 16gb AT&T running iOS 8.0.2. Must be a hardware issue. A genius bar rep here in NYC have not even looked at the screen - just took note of the serial number (or IMEI) and said they would replace the phone. Apple probably knows there has been a batch of defective phones supplied by an assembly factory and is replacing them. Very frustrating. One pays a premium price for an Apple product to exactly avoid such issues. Bendgate, faulty iPhone 5 batteries recall, iOS 8.0.1. debacle, maps? What is next?
