Q: Can anyone help with associate my new iPhone with iTunes? My other old devices are there, but I see only how to delete one, not how to add one.  Thank you.

You need to use iTunes Match, download items via 'automatic downloads' or redownload past purchases on it for it to potentially show in the 'manage devices' section of your account : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID.

I guess I must be missing something, because I have synced the phone, but I manually sync, I do not automatically sync.  The new device does not show up.  I'm sorry - I guess I just don't understand.

Thank you but I still don't understand. Sorry to bother you - I don't use the "cloud" subscription (is that iTunes match?) nor automatic downloads as I manually sync.  Maybe that is why it won't show.  Do you know if there is a problem if it does not appear in my devices? If not, I don't care about getting it to show. Thank you.

iTunes Match is a subscription system that allows you to upload your own music (e.g. coped from CDs) to the cloud so that it shows (in the cloud) on your devices and computers without having to sync/copy it.

Automatic downloads allows to, for example, buy an app on your computer's iTunes and have it automatically download on your phone without having to connect and sync it or go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your download and download it yourself - but doing that, going to the Purchased tab and redownloading an app, should get it associated.

But no, I'm not aware of any problems that not having it associated causes.

Thank you for helping me.  I think I did it, thanks to some of your suggestions.  I went to the phone and allowed music sharing - (like you described it automatically downloads what was purchased on one device to another) and there it was!  The new phone now shows in iTunes as a device.  Thank you again. I guess I just wasn't understanding it fully until you gave me some things to try.
