IOS 8.0.2 Speakerphone Not Working

I was running IOS 8 on my iPhone 5 without issue. However, after updating to IOS 8.0.2 the speakerphone stopped working.

1. Earbuds work, holding it up to my ear during a phone call with the speaker turned off works.

2. When speaker is selected during a phone call no sound comes out of the phone speaker.

3. When playing a song from iTunes no sound is produced from the speaker whether it is held up to my ear or held away only earbuds work with iTunes

4. Siri works but does not produce any sound output except through earbuds

Everything worked fine until I updated to 8.0.2. I've Restored the phone 3 times while directly connected to my Mac using iTunes 14.4.

I really wish I could downgrade to IOS 7. I have 8 other devices I've bought for family members and have had to advise them not to upgrade until these issues are fixed.

If there are any suggestions, other than restoring the phone which had already been done a number of times, I'd be happy to entertain them.

I'm having this problem as well except the speaker works just fine but the microphone for the person to hear what I'm saying when I'm using speakerphone does not work.

I just got the iPhone 6 yesterday and was really disappointed that it isn't working 100% ... such a disappointment.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Update to my original post:

I've tried the following without success:

1. Erase the phone and restore from my iCloud backup

2. Erase the phone and set up as a new phone

3. Turn on Bluetooth, Turn off Bluetooth

4. Plug in earphones and leave in for several minutes then unplug

5. Press the lower right corner of the phone for about 20 seconds in case a contact was loose

Nothing worked so far in regard to getting sound out of the speaker with the momentary exception documented below.

When using bluetooth with Google Glass I noticed on a phone call that the Bluetooth would cut out and sound would momentarily come out of the phone speaker then bluetooth would reconnect and sound would once again come out of the earpiece.

Once again this did not occur until the IOS 8.0.2 update.

I am having similar issues. Speakerphone on a phone call works, but itunes music does not play through the phone speaker, but works ok through our blue tooth car stereo. I attempted using voice turn by turn navigation last week and was having trouble with sound but put it down to my not being familiar with the software, but once the Bluetooth was connected it worked fine. I can't hear video sound on my phone either, or music on google play.

Please fix this apple, very poor form!

FWIW, I am using the iPhone 6, with IOS 8.0.2

I know what I am gonna say may not sound scientific, but it works for me.

I could only hear sound using speakerphone and earpiece, but not when I held my ears against the phone.

I have tried literally everything including turning on and off the mute switch, Bluetooth and rebooting a thousand times. But then, accidentally, I dropped my phone on the ground, and the problem goes away. Sound is back on!!!
