Anybody having an issue with iMessage in iOS 8 where group chats are duplicated? Specifically, messages that are sent in the group by person A through C appear in group chat 1, but messages from person D appear in chat thread 2. This is happening to me with different groups of friends. This has been occurring in iOS 8 and iOS 8.02. None of us installed .01. We have a mix of iphone 5, 5s, 6 and iPads that are all experiencing the same issues.

Yes, I am having the exact same problem as you. I think this may be because someone or some people in the group chat are not running iOS 8. So whenever the person without iOS 8 responds to the Group Message, the message would appear in a different group chat.
I am experiencing the same problem as well, and I have to admit that it is very annoying and I hope Apple fixes this bug soon. The problem is so bad that I dont reply in the Group Messages anymore because it is so confusing.
Happening to me too. Please submit a bug report at https://bugreport.apple.com/ to ensure Apple is aware of the issue. I submitted one for this issue a month ago and have been actively helping their team troubleshoot.
I thiught that was the issue. However, I have confirmed everybody is running iOS 8.02.
