I have just got the new iPhone 6 after having the iPhone 4. What I can't manage to do is get the music from my old phone to my new phone. I have it in my iTunes library but there is a lot more music in there than I want on on my phone. I just want what was on my iPhone 4.
How am I supposed to do this?

Thanks for the reply, but that's not quite what I want to do.
To get the same songs from my iTunes to my iPhone 6 would take a long time.
I have tried a couple of 3rd party software programs, but still no joy

One way to do it is to back up the old phone to your computer, then connect the new phone and restore that backup. This only works if you don't have information on your new phone that you want to preserve as restoring a backup overwrites everything. Beyond that there's no easy way that I can think of if you didn't plan for this ahead of time by managing your phone's content with playlists.
Did you set up your iPhone 6 as a new device rather than using a backup from your iPhone 4?

Backed up from iPhone 4
If you restored the backup from your iPhone 4 it should have also restored the music you had on the iPhone 4. The backup contains the music catalog from the phone, so after restoring the backup if you sync it should copy the same music you had on the iPhone 4.
It backed up everything apart from the music. Must have done something wrong.
I still have the old iPhone. Can I still do it?
Back up the old phone to your computer. Connect the new phone, click on it in iTunes, and click Restore Backup, then choose the backup you just made. If it doesn't flow directly into a sync step after the backup completes click the Sync button.
I'll give this a go. Do I have to do the whole phone or can I just do music.

You have to restore the whole phone. You can't restore a partial backup.
However, if you haven't synced the iPhone 6 since restoring the iPhone 4 backup originally all you may need to do is to connect it to your computer and sync it.
I also have this problem when I sync my iPhone 5s with backup from my iPhone4. All my old data pic and others is in new phone minus the music n ringtone.
Hi, the quickest way I know: connect your iPhone 4 and iPhone 6 to your compute via USB cables > install MobileTrans on your computer > check Music to copy songs to your iPhone 6.
