icloud email verifacation won't go through so I can set it up

Why won't the email verifacation being sent from apple icloud come to my email box? I receive all other emails at the only email address I have had for over 15 years. Can anyone help me? I just want to start to use icloud, I have given up after hundreds of tries over the last two years.

MacBook Air (13-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

There are some suggesting troubleshooting steps for this problem here: If you didn't receive your Apple ID verification or reset email.
