Same thing happened to me just yesterday. Like when I turn ringer up it'll say headphones like it's still connected. I called support but they took too long to answer. Took about 1hr or 2 for it to work. It works when I make phone calls but can only speak on the speaker phone. But your phone should be fine. :)

1) Turn phone OFF holding right side button for five seconds; then restart it usually works for me.

2) Turn off Bluetooth. Phone was still Bluetooth’d to a Logitech Bluetooth receiver to put songs into my stereo; even though stereo was off, phone would not play sounds including keyboard clicks. Turned off Bluetooth solved it! I will keep that Bluetooth receiver unplugged unless actively using it.

If it’s not a software problem and you can’t resolve it with a restart, and when you use the volume buttons it modify headphones volume even you don’t have headphones connected, you must clean the headphones jack. I did it with a pointless needle and I extracted a lot of synthetic material. The synthetic material comes mostly from our pockets.

That was the cause of not switching to speakers when unplugging headphones.

Clean the jack carefully without damaging it.

Cheers!

Hi marcibro,

By "All sound it gone" it sounds like there are no alert sounds, no music, no phone receiver sound.

Not sure if "tried everything" includes all the steps in this article, but see if there is something else to try. Although the new phones aren't mentioned, the troubleshooting still applies.

iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker

  1. 1.Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
  2. Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
  3. If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
  4. Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
  5. If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
  6. If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
  7. Restart the iPhone.
  8. If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
  9. If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

#7 helped me. I just lost the sound from text alerts, music, ringing, etc. I restarted the phone and all is fine now. I don't know how long it will last, but for now I can watch videos, listen to music and hear my phone when it rings.

Purchased iPhone 6 plus five weeks ago and the first problem was lack of sound. Checked volume buttons and settings to make sure then went to individual sounds for ring, messages, text, etc. and most did nothing when clicked. Changed options however still nothing when a call came in. Phone was replaced last week due to software problem and it was a joy to actually hear phone ring!
A week later and I have voice messages for missed calls that never rang. Back to Apple store.

Chat person had no answer. Went into Apple store to learn about the mute button above volume buttons on left. Nothing mentioned when I purchased it, in Quick start guide, initial search I read or when trying to diagnose. Apparently familiar to long time Apple product users however this is my first and while happy to have this solved, unhappy that it even exists to be a problem.
