Nov 29, 2015 7:52 PM in response to marcibroby rjpod,I had (& fixed) the same problem... no sound from phone speakers and the volume buttons didn't do anything. Restarting would temporarily fix it, but the problem reoccurs after connecting to a charge cable. I also noticed a related issue in that the charging cable was very sensitive almost like the cable had a short in it. Also, if I checked the air play options, the "iphone" was missing from the options, as if it was connected to a dock station. The solution was to clean out the charging port & the headphone jack. I did this carefully with a toothpick, and managed to remove big chucks of packed in lint out of each port (a result of having the phone in my pocket for the last year). Once you get all the junk out, connect and disconnect it from a charging cable to reset it back to normal.

Nov 30, 2015 9:50 AM in response to rjpodby PG tips,I don't think the cleaning out of these areas would solve my problem since it started again soon after Apple gave me a new phone.I think the bluetooth might be a problem since it seemed to have started after connecting to new car (though never happened with my previous car .... though that would be a different iOS)
However, I have tried all of the suggestions and they seem to work for a short time and then it starts all over again on an intermittent basis)
When I had the problem and went to settings> sounds before none would sound when I pressed them.... pressed one 3 times and then they all work. Recently doing the same the sound would ring when pressing on it then press again and no sound, press again and it sounded.... alternating on and off with consecutive presses.

Dec 4, 2015 10:00 AM in response to marcibroby KAD1,Just had something similar happen to me. Phone was working fine, and then suddenly I couldn't get any sound from apps or from the phone unless it was on speaker; for example, I couldn't hear nusic or my Audible App. Since the speakerphone worked, it wasn't a physical problems with the speakers or headphone jack. I could hear everything from the headphones. Also, I use Bluetooth when in the car, and that worked while I drove to work this morning, but still no sound from speakers.
Turned off Bluetooth, no change.
Reset settings, thinking I clicked something by mistake, no change.
Side switch is loc rotation only, so that doesn't matter.
Tried the got to settings and ring your ringtone fix. Heard the ringtone, but still app sound.
Turned it off anf back on again - Success!
So I think it was a combination of the test the ringtone and then turning the phone off and on again that was the winner.
This was a very new iPhone 6s with the latest OS (9.1)

Dec 7, 2015 1:31 PM in response to marcibroby iphone4imac,MY iPhone 6 Plus same problem tiday. Fixed it as follows. Switch off the phone. Using a spray to clean dust in computers, spray into the power port and the headphone jack for a while. Switch on the phone and see if it works. Had to repeat twice before it worked fully. It's really ridiculous that apple cannot yet provide a software override for this bug that has plagued all apple products including the iMac.

Dec 21, 2015 7:26 AM in response to Nubz N.by kenfromvtown,Our iPhone 6 had same problem. No sound on anything. Did all that Nubz suggested.
On restart, music volume worked -- there was sound. However, the movies on an App called FitBreak (from Weight Watchers) still had no sound. The App was running before and after the reboot of the phone, so we shut off the App and restarted it. Sound works just fine now.

Jan 4, 2016 8:56 AM in response to marcibroby ninags,I went to see a play and turned a bunch of sound preferences to OFF and NONE before remembering to just flip the MUTE switch on the side of the phone. When I un-muted, and turned those sounds on again, I still got no sounds from the phone. Finally, I turned the phone completely OFF, waited a minute, and turned it ON again. The sounds came back.

Jan 5, 2016 7:32 AM in response to marcibroby Jaynesh162,Hi all
i have the same problem , my phone suddenly didn't have any sound , no ringtone , no music sound, even when I was pressing volume button it was showing that headphone volume going up and down without headphones.
I have reset all my settings, path is like settings>general>scroll down find reset > reset all settings, then enter your passcode and phone will reset all settings on ur iphone, and it will take fresh restart.
Thats it.
Now working smoothly like before.
Cheers,
take care

Jan 7, 2016 5:56 AM in response to Jaynesh162by Waleed Q.,I, too, have had the same problem with the iPhone 6s. I have already replaced my first phone under AppleCare, but the problem immediately was present in the replacement. This is obviously a software issue, likely to do with iOS 9.2.
I hope that someone in the Apple Support team will look at this problem more carefully.

Jan 19, 2016 4:12 PM in response to dogandlittlegirlby David Jenner2,My wife also has this problem on her iPhone 6 but this has carried over from the iPhone 5S she had before so I'm convinced this is a software issue. It could be an app that's triggering it but it seems to just happen out of the blue, let's see if iOS 9.2.1 fixes it but I'm not holding my breath.
Come on Apple, fix this problem, we've had enough.

Jan 29, 2016 3:05 PM in response to wephilliby Uylenspiegel,I have the same issue for 4 months now.
I have tried everything that been suggested on here and no fix.
Im lucky its still under warranty but it looks like those who replaced their Iphone with a new one still have the same issue.
It's definitely a software (hardware?)problem that needs to be handled by Apple not by it's users.
Sjeesj...!
