My new IPhone 6s suddenly lost sound. Initially the sound loss only happened when played YouTube but then all sound from IPhone disappeared. I turned phone off and on, check the mute button above volume, volume turns on but still no sound. Help please

Same thing happened to me just yesterday. Like when I turn ringer up it'll say headphones like it's still connected. I called support but they took too long to answer. Took about 1hr or 2 for it to work. It works when I make phone calls but can only speak on the speaker phone. But your phone should be fine. :)
I was turn off my phone over a night and went to sleep. when I wake up, I turned it on, and the sound was OK. Hopefully it can help u solve the problem.
Hi,
There is a button above your volume button, please adjust that button.
Regards,
Whenever I'm on call my iPhone sound does not work. It's only if I put the person on loud speakers to hear what they're saying or if my phone is giving an outgoing call. It's frustrating because I get a lot of calls from work and other things.
For me, it was because I was playing music and I called someone to my phone glitched out, volume still worked through head phones and stuff, but not out loud so I turnt up all my volume in settings and on buttons, then Turnt off airplane mode, wifi, Bluetooth, do not disturb and auto lock, then shut down my phone, once I turnt it back on it worked fine.
BRAND NEW iphone 6s plus .
ios 10.3.2
shows the heastet icon when wire is connected and volume bar seems to work but NO sound is coming out from headset .
multiple wires and headset where tested and all have the same result .
in my case this is WHAT WORKED FOR ME -
- with nothing connected in the headphone jack .
hold the lock screen button till the shut down option appears and then proceed with the given option .
- I waited ~ minute and restarted the device .
! Headset audio output is now fully functional !
I have the same problems described - though they are intermittent.
A reset seems to work (press the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time until you see the apple logo).
I'm surprised that Apple themselves don't post solutions to this annoying issue. Will someone from Apple prove me wrong?
I've tried the "reboot" of my iPhone 6 and it fixes the problem for awhile. However, the issue keeps happening so I have to keep rebooting the phone. Is this going to be a continual problem? I've deliberately stopped using any Bluetooth devices (car, headset, etc.) because of the issues it seems to create.
Thoughts?
My first thought is that it's something corrupt on your phone causing the issue. Restore iOS using iTunes and set it up as a new phone. Do NOT restore your backup. See if the problem returns. If it does, make an appointment at the genius bar. I'm betting it won't so long as you don't restore your backup, which probably contains the corruption.
1) Turn phone OFF holding right side button for five seconds; then restart it usually works for me.
2) Turn off Bluetooth. Phone was still Bluetooth’d to a Logitech Bluetooth receiver to put songs into my stereo; even though stereo was off, phone would not play sounds including keyboard clicks. Turned off Bluetooth solved it! I will keep that Bluetooth receiver unplugged unless actively using it.
If it’s not a software problem and you can’t resolve it with a restart, and when you use the volume buttons it modify headphones volume even you don’t have headphones connected, you must clean the headphones jack. I did it with a pointless needle and I extracted a lot of synthetic material. The synthetic material comes mostly from our pockets.
That was the cause of not switching to speakers when unplugging headphones.
Clean the jack carefully without damaging it.
Cheers!
Hi marcibro,
By "All sound it gone" it sounds like there are no alert sounds, no music, no phone receiver sound.
Not sure if "tried everything" includes all the steps in this article, but see if there is something else to try. Although the new phones aren't mentioned, the troubleshooting still applies.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
- 1.Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
- Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
- If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
- Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
- If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
- If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
- Try turning off Bluetooth.
- If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
- Restart the iPhone.
- If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
- If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.
