My Ipod froze/ won't turn off or do anything

Alright so I just plugged in my new nano to the USB cord and it all of a sudden isn't responding. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still isn't doing anything. I can't even turn it off.It just sits there paused w/ the charging battery icon on the top right corner. Can anyone help me out? What should I do (besides take a trip to the apple store to get it fixed)? I wanna know if it's fixable before I take it back to the store.

something similar happened to me, i was playing a song and it just suddenly froze and i tried turning it off and fiddling with the click wheel but it didnt work so i just let the battery run out completely, charged it again and now its up and working.

Just recieved my replacement 20GB clickwheel from Apple, worked for a couple of days. Is now frozen on Apple icon. Will not reset, not seen by itunes, will charge, can hear a clicking sound. Is this fixable or send it back to Apple, still covered under Apple Care

mine just did that, woo i'm letting the battery run out to!
oh well. i'm at school it's 9:35 AM and it's been frozen under my pillow at gome since 7:41 AM. hopefully this works, or i'll go to apple as well.

The same thing happenens to me, so it usually works when you leave it to run out.

my friend also experienced this problem. he let the battery run down then recharged it fully. it worked fine after that.
