Q: Keystroke response time very slow

This problem seems to be getting worse.

It is not application dependent.

I'll start typing and no on screen response. I'll continue to type and it will "catch up."

I do use a wireless keyboard.

Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Norm,

I know it can be annoying to have your Mac's keyboard be unresponsive for intervals such as you describe. I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues

In particular the section labeled Keyboard or mouse intermittently stops responding.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Best,

I have a similar issue - symptom is as I type, system can't keep up with keyboard, and even pops up the alternate keys (diacriticals, e.g.) -

Keyboard is wired, Yosemite is up to date. Not using Mouse Keys. It just seems like the system gets to a point where it can't keep up any more with the input coming from the keyboard.

Download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here (and recommended by Apple Support personnel) in the ASC to help identify the more obvious culprits that can affect system performance.
