Green dot when taking photos

I held my 6 up to a small bright light and can see it on my 6 as well. For grins I tested it on my 4 and a spot appears on it too only magenta in colour. What it is is internal reflections on the lens elements. If memory serves me correctly the phones use a 6 element lens. There's not much you can do about it other than try to keep bright points of light out of the image. As good as the camera is it's still a camera in a phone. More elaborate lenses can have the same problem only not quite as easily.

Most cameras, including DSLR cameras are not very good in low light. I looked at your dropbox link and to be honest with you, it's pretty darn good from a teeny tiny phone lens in low light. If you want significantly better, you'll need spend a lot more money on a camera with better IQ in low light. However, even my $1300 Nikon D7100, with a $1000 lens won't do that much better. I think your expectation is a bit off for what a small lens in a phone is capable of doing.

I'm not going to argue with you. It makes no difference if the phone has the best camera for a phone or not. It has limitations and you just found out what it is. I'll test the 5S tonight when my wife returns and post the results using the same light source.

I can only see the picture, not watch the video, but in the picture, I don't see any bright dots. I'll look when I get home from my laptop and see if I can see them. Maybe I'm just not seeing what you can see. I see lens flare from the street lamp, which isn't odd or unusual.

Had he framed differently the dot would have moved one way or the other. The difference between his green dot and my magenta one is the size of the bright light relative to the frame and the type of coating on the lens.

I've had the same issue as well when taking pictures of a bright light source such as the sun.....green dot in every shot. The iPhone 6 is the only camera phone with which I've ever experienced. Horrible design flaw in an otherwise nice camera and this is way nastier than any kind of flare. It's plain digital ugliness that Apple probably has no interest in fixing.

Yes agreed! They have not even recognised this problem I'm speaking to apple support right now and they are not aware this is an issue...

Irony is I got my iPhone 6 just 5 days ago for a photography project starting in 1.5 weeks

It is what it is, a camera in a phone. If you want better results use a good dedicated camera. The phone is just too thin to have multiples of elements like an SLR.

DId you find a solution? I have also owned the iphones and never had this problem before. IT is ruining my photos!

Which phone are you using? I'd compare but it's cloudy here right now. If you can see it on the phone's screen does the dot move as you pan?
