iPad requires your passcode after restarting after IOS 8 upgrade

You must hold the top button and the home button until it goes black. Once It does that a apple symbol will come up. On that happens take your finger off of the top but leave your other on the home button. Make sure that You neve take you thumb off. And once you do that you will then see a itunes symbol plug it into the computer and reset the password it should have an option.

Thanks for your response. But, I haven't set any passcode anytime.

Also, it asks for a passcode that is just not numbers but the complete qwerty keyboard comes up at the bottom. I don't have any idea about what I should enter in there.

Diavonex is right. You need to restore your iPad. But when you do and you are given the option to create a Passcode for your iPad, DO IT! Pick 4 numbers you won't forget. Then write those numbers down somewhere in case you don't remember them.

This is so important to prevent someone from gaining access to your device should you lose it. And don't think you can't lose your iPad unless it absolutely never goes outside your home with you. We see people come here every day who lost their device.

You replied to what appears to be a different problem than yours. And that thread is several months old.

I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

This is just stupid. Why should I restore my ipad just because I wanted to do an upgrade. It's not like I forgot my passcode. I never had a passcode. I wonder if this is a bug, or that's how Apple wanted to work.

I'm having this issue now, and apple still denies having anything to do with it. They're swearing up and down that "someone" had to have set up a passcode. I keep telling them NO, and that there are several other people online writing about the same problem. It's incredibly frustrating. Did anyone ever figure this out without restoring? (This is an update from 9.3.2....so its STILL happening! beware!!!)

You have no choice but to restore iPad.

My wife's aunt experienced the same issue. Any solution figured out? She didn't remember ever having a passcode.
