Q: Icloud asking for previous email password

I changed my apple ID a couple of years ago and despite Itunes and App store using the new Apple ID on my iphone it will not let me change from my previous email address for icloud and is constantly asking me the password which I cannot remember for the old email address. I have updated the software and tried all the different settings, managing my apple ID online etc but nothing works. When I try to log in to icloud the email address is constantly blacked out. I wouldn't be bothered too much about icloud but I want to switch on the find my iphone app just in case! Please help!

If your phone is signed into your old ID and you have since updated the email address associated with this ID, you need to go to Settings>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the updated ID. However, in order to sign out, you will need to provide the password for the old ID. In order to do this, you will need to follow the steps in this troubleshooting article: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud. If signing out and back into FaceTime and iMessage doesn't work, the second suggestion (changing your Apple ID temporarily) usually will.
