How to access old Pages documents on new IMac operating Mavaricks OSX v.10.9.5 and Pages 5.2.2.?

You were not specific about what version files or the problems you are encountering, so you are leaving us guessing.
If you did an update on your Mac then Pages '08/'09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
It sounds like you have Pages '08 files which Pages 5.2.2 will not open.
You have three choices, open and resave them from Pages '09 if you have it or Export from Pages '08 to Word .doc/x which Pages 5.2.2 can open or open both Pages '08 and Pages 5.2.2 and copy paste the content across.
