iPhone 6 poor picture quality

I have an iPhone 6 (64gb AT&T) running iOS 8.02 and I'm experiencing poor image quality with photos taken with the camera. It looks they are artificially over sharpened and fairly pixelated when compared to photos taken with my iPhone 5. It's most noticeable when capturing skin tones in a lowish light setting. It almost looks like there has been a bad watercolor effect added to then photo. I'm attaching a few examples that have been cropped to show the problem spots. Anyone else having this issue?

:O He's blind all right...

I wasn't waiting for the fix with 6S... I was waiting for it with iOS 9. And then 9.0.1. And then 9.0.2. The pictures look like those I took with Sony Ericsson non-smart-phone in 2007, except with a little less megapixels.

I am looking for other solutions (also because in addition to this, iPhones are incapable of sending photos or other files on a device-to-device basis, i.e. via Bluetooth, when no network is around).

So glad I'm not the only one, and want to add in my post so this issue doesn't just go away for Apple. And I encourage others to keep adding to this thread!

The first image below was taken using my old (unfortunately I passed it onto someone who really needed a phone, so I can't ask for it back); and the second one was taken using 6. The lighting condition for the second photo was not bad at all yet the close up came out lacking details/blurred.

I am hopeful a future software update may fix the issue, I'm on 9.1 currently. What makes me say this is that when you take a HD video at 60 FPS, the video looks very sharp without the blurring effect as seen in the photos.

This shot?

Wow! That is really good! Very detailed. You can even count the individual fibers sticking up off the stalk of the plant.

The F-Stop was very low and the focus is on the stalk with the buds.

Adding to the thread since it's encouraged. I'm going nuts over this so called feature. I just had a baby and got a new iPhone 6S just after that. Thought I would have great pictures of her from these first weeks of her life but boy was I wrong. Both my iPhone 5S and 4 took better pictures. A shame I have given them both away. Here's hoping the next software update will fix this annoying feature.

I Have the same complaints.

OH look, Apple still hasn't fixed the weird glitch with this form.

EVery new line has two capital letters.

AByway ... Wait. What? Autocorrect is also broken on here? Seriously does Apple not test this stuff?

ANYWAY: the noise-reduction algorithm is WAY too aggressive. It's also weirdly selective. It attacks hair on my cat (no flash) but not the texture of my sweatpants right next to her. With flash, there's no aggressive noise reduction (but of course the image highlights are solid white and awful).

ive already sent my own feedback to Apple but I thought I'd add my voice here. Maybe they could bother to correct the weirdness with this forum text box and iPhones as well, i mean, Apple product on behaving badly on Apple websites.... [shakes head]

Edit: and what's with the text size??

EDit 2: different rrsult every time I submit an edit.

OK, I'm furious already... this "feature" was the biggest mistake apple did with it's camera... so annoying.

Almost every picture, regardless of the lighting conditions is crappy! I wish someone seriously did some good review of it before I purchased the upgrade. This is really BIG step back.

I was so proud of Apple not doing that megapixels hunts and to have them admit they have a little noise in the pictures, which is a good thing... this noise reduction is pure ****!

I'm sooo ****** I'm really considering switching to another phone 😟

Also adding to the voices here.

I believe most people don't have an issue because you can hardly notice the effect, for example, on Instagram while viewing on the phone screen. I also think rarely people look at their photos at 100% unless they really care about them and wish to do anything else to them.

I am also getting the effect, and it does seem to be bad noise processing or something, perhaps it could be fixed? If its a feature maybe apple could give us the option to disable it. Im also using an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2

Wrong wrong wrong. It's one thing to have slightly blurry photos - but it's another thing when Apple runs ads "Shot with an iPhone" showing these ridiculously pristine photos. It's painful when you look back on the first year of your child's life to see all these terrible overly corrected blurry watercolor photos. Photos are an emotional thing and the fact that Apple has not fixed this while at the same time holding this camera aloft and proclaiming its virtues is painful. You don't need to look at 100% to see how bad they are. I will say though that this is mostly with photos taken with indoor light - with great light it's not as painful. But still - I just can't understand why this issue hasn't been resolved.
