iPhone 6 poor picture quality

I have an iPhone 6 (64gb AT&T) running iOS 8.02 and I'm experiencing poor image quality with photos taken with the camera. It looks they are artificially over sharpened and fairly pixelated when compared to photos taken with my iPhone 5. It's most noticeable when capturing skin tones in a lowish light setting. It almost looks like there has been a bad watercolor effect added to then photo. I'm attaching a few examples that have been cropped to show the problem spots. Anyone else having this issue?

3 years late iPhone 6 still ***** apparently am not fussy but have a really cool back LED strip backlight on my 1600W/7.2 AV system. Set color to bright red. Where pinkish in picture should be pure red. Plus the red is not even close to the pure LED red. Have camera in HDR mode to boot. Turned off the TV above too so was not affecting the camera. Thus am sto say 3 years later the iPhone 6 still apparently ***** at pics. I have 10.3.3 installed so should have been fixed. Since have been a computer programmer 33.5 years leads me to believe is either marketing doesn't care about fixing the software or is a hardware problem with the camera system.

I noticed this when I first got my iPhone 6 (space gray, 128GB, Verizon) but didn't have another model to compare it to. The picture attached shows a 4S, 6, and 6+ side by side, in that order. Oddly enough, the 4S is on 8.0.2, my 6 is on 8.1 beta, and the 6+ is on 8(.0.0). Also please note that I had the image problem before the beta install (and it's apparently not fixed). You may have to download and zoom the image but it's very noticeable around the edges of objects and the corner of the wall. Better but still exists on the 6 plus. The 6 in the middle just looks like garbage. Could very well be a software issue... I hope.

My wife and I are having the same issues with our new iPhone 6's. We aren't photographers by any means but can certainly notice a difference between pics we are taking now and ones we took with the 5 and 5s. They are noticeably blurry or pixalated on edges/lines of a subject. We have been taking a lot of pictures of our baby daughter and this is where this surfaces the most. they aren't taken in "great" outside lighting, but it's not bad lighting either. Everyone keeps talking this new camera up, but the picture we are taking are borderline not worth keeping. Can someone please reply if this is a known issue, there is a fix, etc. I have done a lot of research and only found this thread. I can't believe that only a handful of people are having this issue.

Looks like iOS 8.1 is no help here. Pics are still looking really jagged and pixelated even just with a standard double tap zoom in. I too am really surprised that this camera is getting such good reviews. I noticed this on day one coming from a 5s. I've submitted an "enhancement request" (I believe via the Apple support page somewhere) to at least add a toggle for turning off this aggressive noise reduction. Has anyone seen pics taken with an iPhone 6 that don't look like this?

Having the same issue - iphone 6, 64 GB, AT&T running 8.0.2. I first noticed it when I took a couple zoomed in, and they looked like watercolors. Closer inspection showed all photos are like that to some degree - the lower the light, the worse it is, but I can even tell in outdoor, sunlit photos. Plan on installing 8.1 but if that doesn't fix it (and it doesn't sound like it will), I'll take it in. Has anyone talked to Apple about this?

Oh, and I've taken photos with the 6 side by side with my 5, and the 6 photos are clearly really bad, way worse than those from the 5.

Ugn yes just got my pphone a couple of days ago and noticed this immediately. It's the first time I've regretted upgrading my iPhone. The camera makes everything look awful, blotchy and so riddled with noise that it's a joke now compared to any decent phone camera out there. If this is Apple's idea of an upgrade they must've have gotten their dates mixed up because April Fools is still several months away. No pictures taken with the new camera are even worth sharing with others because they look like flat contrastless, blotchy, lifeless images. And this is not what photos looked like in their advertisements when they were showing off the camera. Please fix this asap Apple!

Apple is not here, only other users like yourself. I shouldn't have to tell you this but here's a hint for you; its obviously not working correctly so if you want it fixed then take it in to an Apple store or back to where you bought it and tell them.

Thanks but totally useless. If you think apple doesn't monitor these discussions, you're mistaken. Further, this is not a problem that can be fixed at the genius bar, so here's a hint dear: you don't take your phone to the Apple store for every problem, some problems require time and effort from both the community and the company. Also you may want to do a little searching in the future before making assumptions and giving incorrect information. An incorrect answer is more detrimental to the community than no answer. This is a known, trending issue with the new iPhone.
