Do the following ... reset to factory default condition and do not restore your data just yet. See how it performs "clean" and "off the factory floor" so to speak. Hopefully it's okay at that stage, but if not, then take it to the Genius Bar to eliminate any possible hardware issue. After that is eliminated, then show the "Genius" exactly what it's doing wrong in that condition of being "straight off the factory floor". At that point I would expect you'll get some resolution to the matter ...

All very laudable (and repetitive) but can anyone spot the glaring flaw?

Oct 12, 2014 2:28 AM in response to Schrodinger56by Scott1610,if someone has no computer with iTunes they are a bit restricted. And if they don't have convenient access to a "genius" bar even worse.
unfortunately, I think the only solution to a lot of the problems is to backup the iPad, reload iOS using iTunes, test it and then restore the backup.
i did this to my iPad 3 yesterday and it has eliminated some of the lag and stuttering.
it seems the "upgrade" to iOS 8 cannot install itself successfully every time. It is not an acceptable state of affairs because those people with no pc will end up with a hobbled device.
MAybe Apple need to incorporate a way of reloading iOS from scratch just using a wifi connection without using iTunes.

My mate? No, I am just reading your trolling threads. Do you have something to offer on the iPad2/iOS8 issues that a few people seem to be having?
Now would be a good time to start offering assistance instead of being a nascence and coming here to try to show you are intelligent.
Looking forward to your technical assistance.
Your mate, Pete

and your post is of no assistance either. maybe it is best if you stop posting.

Oct 12, 2014 4:58 AM in response to Chicochopsby Terezia,Since those last updates I too have the same problem and more like no servise, can't log into my bank, can't use google map properly as before. It's bad. I did made appointment with genius bar people plus spent also over an hour on the phone with technical team too. They say the bank and Google problem is to do with the actual website since the didn't catch up with apple update. However before that the genius bar people had also restore the ipad and did all they do when there is a proble and the no service plus freezing is still there. They suggested to go to the 3provider to get a news card which I got but still no service! So I don't think they know the self about these issues that were caused by the update. I just made another appointment - call back to rtalk about no service issue.
I Love my ipad2 it served me well ,but Im very disappointed by the update and the problems that is causing . I don't want to buy a new iPad since it is not my fault that it's not working so will see what happens after the 4meeting with the genius people.

Oct 12, 2014 5:06 AM in response to Tereziaby Scott1610,I have heard of people losing the mobile data connection because of incorrect APN settings.
they are in Settings > Mobile data > APN settings
THey are specific to your mobile data provider. Maybe they can tell you the correct settings. Someone here may be able to tell you if you name the provider....

If not, try it. Just restore it as a new device initially to test the outcome.
THen apply the backup if it worked ok.

StarTraveler has been diligently trying to help those of you who are having issues, despite being insulted by people who have nothing else to offer the forums but derision. How much more empathy do you expect? Try some of StarTraveler's suggestions. Ask them more questions. You may actually get your issue resolved.

Oct 12, 2014 9:00 AM in response to Mykey1957by Star Traveler,The users here on this forum have been reporting good results with setting the iPad back to its factory default setup and then reloading their backup from there. Now, what I've been advising is to first test out your iPad when in that factory default condition before reloading your backup. See if there are any problems with it when it is in pristine condition. If there is a problem, then you need to address that problem with Apple Support letting them know that this is happening from a perfectly clean factory fresh iPad. So, address your problems first, from that standpoint, if there are any problems. But for many others it's all okay and you can reload your backup onto your iPad.
There have been a few instances of an "app" itself causing the problem. If that's the case, then you'll have to identify the problem causing app after you reload your backup. But, on thing you know for sure, is that the problem pops up after reloading your backup, then the problem is some where in your backup.
Here are the Apple Support Links for the things I said up above. And make sure you do your backup before fiddling with you iPad.

Oct 12, 2014 1:20 PM in response to Chicochopsby keithfrommarietta,SOLVED: IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX: FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device. Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now! :-)
