The IOS 8.0.2 "upgrade" has ruined my iPad 2 and iPad Air. Will Apple be implementing a fix to the problems- it is the most ridiculous upgrade ever!

Since Apple don't reply to posts here I have just sent them this on their "official" site - though I must say you would have thought they would care enough about what their customers are having problems with to monitor this area and give assistance. I don't really likes the attitude that seems to be "Fix it yourself" Did Apple released a software update knowing that kit would cause problems with some of their existing products? If they did it unknowingly what does this say about their standards? Perhaps instead of complaining about their hardware and software problems we should be complaining about their standards as demonstrated by their latest software releases. Not what you'd expect from Apple - but perhaps what you will not have to accept? Anyway, here's what I sent in to them.

Maybe it will make a difference if others also care enough to write in?

Since I updated to ios8 on my iPad 2 it is sluggish, freezes and the touchscreen is often unresponsive. What has happened to standards at Apple? I am beginning to lose my trust in the brand. I know you don't respond to issues on Apple User forums but maybe you should. If you don't respond to negative posts with helpful posts you are weakening your brand even further. Maybe my ipad2 is just too old and I should replace it. Once my decision would have been easy - something else from Apple. Now I'd be an idiot not to look at other offerings. And I suspect I'm not alone in thinking like that.

Start treating your loyalists better Apple!

Apple. Please sort out ios 8 for ipad 2 or at least enable users to go back to io7 somehow.

ios 8 on ipad 2 is beyond belieif... Its slow, laggy, freezes all the time. It is not what i expect of apple. The same happened with ios 7 on iphone 4. If an ios update will not run flawlessly on an old device then do not allow old devices to update to it.

it ruins the device - and why this is annoying is becuase these devices wer previously running perfectly before the updates.

come on apple. Steve jobs wouldnt allow this.

I too have all the same issues since the launch of 8.0.2, and seeing how i have two ipads, this is just no good. and before you tellme to reset, yes i have i did all the research to try and fix. I have come to the conclusion that its apple software guru's who need to fix the problem. I believe ma and many like me are truley frustrated with this backwards trend apple is showing its loyal customers.

Apple doesn't have an attitude of "fix it yourself" ... but rather they have an excellent "Apple Support" page and you can go there.

http://www.apple.com/support/

However, you didn't choose to go there, but you picked to go to the area where "users help other users". If you don't like the idea of "users helping other users" ... then don't post here ... go to Apple Support.

ALSO ... many people (and me, too) go to the "Genius" at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store. Again, that's not a "fix it yourself" attitude ... but some of the best support in the industry, per many surveys done with users who have taken advantage of it. All you need to do is "go there" ... :-) ...

A future suggestion to you ... if you don't like the idea of "fix it yourself" ... remove this forum from your links and don't come here any more ... and go to Apple Support. They're more than happy to help you there.

Apple is selling the iPad 2 right now on its store website. And they have upgrades to iOS 8.0.2 right now for those iPads they sell on their store website. So, this iOS 8.0.2 is entirely functional with the iPad 2. I just talked to someone else today (on this forum) who set his iPad 2 back to factory default and then reloaded his data back on it and it's functioning okay, as compared to the way it was before doing that.

If you want to see - for yourself - how those iPad 2s are functioning ... right now ... that Apple is selling on its store website, then simply set your iPad 2 back to the factory default and don't load any of your data back onto it yet (wait until later) and see how the functionality of your iPad 2 is ... from that experiment.

It's "not" the case that the iPad 2 is too old for the iOS 8.0.2 ... because Apple is selling this very model, right now, on their store web page. Apple won't sell a device that won't work with its current iOS.

There are already millions of other users of the iPad 2 who are not having problems with their device. They just don't post here when everything is "going okay" ... :-) ...
