No comment would have been better!

I'm new here & find this rather distasteful.

Whatever. So you have a specific issue, or specific fix with your iPad2 and iOS8 or just here to complain in general?

I decided to keep it for now, I can always sell it later, I could of traded it into Apple.

Snippy is not a "personal attack". If you are going to participate in any internet forum, you are going to have to be prepared to experience ideas and attitudes you may not like or agree with. This is an international forum. People come from many different cultures and backgrounds and often have different first languages. That means that how they express themselves may not always be what you would prefer. That being said, this is an extremely tightly moderated forum. Ad hominem attacks, profanity, and ranting are dealt with rather swiftly. By most standards, this is an extremely civil forum.

WHY do you think you are going to get "technical support solutions" from someone who is never going to have Apple products again ... or that this person even belongs here with his announced revulsion of Apple products?!

AND ... why don't you find it distasteful to have that person who is never going to have Apple products again ... DISRUPTING this forum, in which the Terms of Use say to either ask for a technical support solution or to provide a technical support solution?!

My iPad is running ios8.1.  My WIFI is at least 20mbps per Ookla.  The new problems since upgrading to ios8 include the following:

The screen doesn't keep up with simple typing, it hesitates.

The iPad2 spontaneously goes black and then comes up to the login screen a few seconds later.

The iPad2 is excruciatingly slow, takes more than twice the time as previous to load Apps, webpages, videos, etc., and way more than my iPhone.

By contrast, my iPhone5 has none of the problems.  I accept that newer ios will slow the older devices.  Only the third issue has my attention, to the point that I am considering buying a new replacement, but before I do I would like to exhaust all remedies.  I have done the following and have met with some success:

Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion. Tap to turn Reduce Motion On

Settings -> General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast > Reduce Transparency -> On

General > Reset > Reset All Settings

I did not find anything relevant on http://www.apple.com/support/, also searched on "ios8 on ipad2 is slow"

Has anybody met with success trying anything else?  There has to be something out there if Apple is still selling the iPad2.

    Thanks!

I thought by this time that Apple would have at least acknowledged the problem.  Really too bad Steve Jobs is gone.

Since when has Apple done that? I've never seen them state some list of bug they are working on, and then tell people that a revision is coming out to fix those bugs. You must be thinking of some other company ... it's not Apple.

And by that, I don't mean that Apple is not working on things that they have identified as needing fixing ... I'm saying that they DO NOT TELL YOU ... :-) ...

Really too bad Steve Jobs is gone.

LOL ... if you really knew about Steve Jobs and what he did, you would have already known that Steve Jobs NEVER did that ... :-) ...

Thanks - these were useful suggestions. I already had Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency on, so I tried Reset All Settings and it worked!

I recommend others try these steps as well. Great!

I was really upset about ios8 and was SERIOUSLY considering selling my iPad Mini and have looked for Minis on ebay that are still on 7.1.2.

Now I have done the 8.1.1 upgrade.

My Mini is back! Good job Apple - finally!!

Everyone here, with complaints - get the 8.1.1 upgrade!

Does this 8.1 fix apply to the iPad 2 also?  I went to the extended "Discussion" and it says it's restricted so I can't get there.  What this restricted area all about?

Branch to a new discussion can mean a person changed the topic of the thread so the hosts started a seperate thread. If it says restricted it means the person violated the Terms of Use agreement, the host deleted the reply and it is no longer viewable.
