My Ipad 2 and Iphone 4S are like a Rolls Royce with a 1.0 litre engine after the upgrade - so wish i didnt upgrade!

I get the impression there aren't many folks on this forum. We probably need to find a different one, one that's more active and may well have some knowledgable people that can help. Hopefully we can.

Sorry but this happens to be one of the busiest support forums (for anything) in the world. There is not an forum for Apple products that is more active or has more knowledgable people.
The basics for dealing with this issue are simple but can be time consuming. Many (of the comparatively small number of) people who have problems with upgrades seem to want someone to agree with them that it is somehow Apple's fault and that the issue can only be dealt with with a software update. If that's the sort of "knowledgable people" you want answering you, no, this is definitely not the forum for you. Good luck in finding one that suits you better.

I've never seen this happen before, that an issue just can't be addressed. Makes me think, unfortunately, that no fix is possible. I think my next step will be to take my ipad back to Best But and ask for the Invisible Shield to be replaced, then try the Touch features while the Shield is off, to see it it's the Shield that's causing the problem. I would welcome that news because as it stands now, the iPad is just frustrating to use. The Invisible Shield is no longer just a thin soft plastic but glass, which may be interfering with the touch features. I don't know.

We are all other users here and do not work for Apple. So, there is nothing to "admit". I have an iPad Air and have no problem with 8.2.
Have you tried a logical solution: actually contact Apple and/or make a reservation at your nearest Genius Bar to address the problem with them? If they have a solution, you can then post it here for the other users.

What is there to admit? Of course some people have problems upgrading any device. Does that mean there's some sort of systemic issue that affects all or most or even many devices? No.
I'm also not sure who this "you guys" you refer to is. We're all just users, like you. So, you're part of "you guys", I guess.

It's perfectly logical to come here for help. It's not logical to come here and demand that Apple "fix it" and then refuse to take the help that's offered. This is a user-to-user technical support forum, not a support group.
I go to the Apple Store when I need to. They are extremely helpful and have always resolved my issues quickly and pleasantly. They have never once told me I should just wait and maybe Apple will issue an update so I shouldn't bother to do anything until that happens. I do wish the stores weren't so loud, though.

Mar 29, 2015 11:21 AM in response to Chicochopsby LanceBC,There has been a lot of back and forth on this issue with a lot of frustration from people who are experiencing the problem. I understand that frustration because I also had the problem. Here is what I did to resolve my problem.
Step 1. Reinstall IOS8.2 in the cleanest way possible. In other words, you want to do an install to duplicate the virgin IOS installation as close as possible on your iPad without any other apps or data to introduce other variables. After talking to multiple Apple tech people about this including genius bar techs, I was advised to use itunes to do the install and select the restore option. Do not restore from a backup, and do not select the option to restore settings. When IOS has installed, configure the iPad as a new user.
Step 2. Test the performance of the newly installed IOS 8.2. In my case, it was the same as it was when I had upgraded. Web pages taking 3 times as long to load, stuttering, NEF raw images taking 15 seconds or so to render in photos.
Step 3. Make a genius bar appointment, and demonstrate the performance to them. In my case, they ran diagnostics on the iPad, and said there was nothing that looked wrong. The tech also acknowledged that the performance was poor, and I could see he didn't think it was right. However, there was nothing he could do.
Step 4. If you are still unsatisfied as I was, ask to speak to the manager and ask him/her what you are supposed to do. Now you are into a customer satisfaction discussion, and it is up to you how you chose to handle it. I had to work at it, but to Apple's credit they came through for me in the end by swapping my iPad 3 for another refurbished iPad 3 with IOS 7.1.2 on it. This performs like it always did - great. If they don't have an iPad with 7.1.2 on it, get them to demonstrate the performance of IOS 8.2 on a refurbished iPad of the same config as yours. Some posters claim that IOS 8.2 works fine on their iPads, so it is possible that another iPad will work O.K. with IOS 8.2. In my case, I used this approach with Apple. My iPad was working fine and I loved it until I installed IOS 8.2. Now the performance is so bad that I hate it, and it is practically unusable. The demonstration showing a photo that takes 15 seconds to render was particularly impressive. I said that I would happily reinstall IOS 7 if I could but I didn't have that option. I used the analogy (not that great) that if I took my car in for service and when I drove away that car would now only go 30 mph I would take it back in and expect the dealer to fix it. The manager replied that they didn't install the IOS update, I did. I replied that Apple created the IOS update, and if he thought the issue was my installation, then he should do it. A that point he had a genius tech redo the installation just as I had done, and low and behold got the same result. I was then told that there was nothing that could be done at which point I went over that fact that I have been using Apple products for 30 years, spent a lot on Apple products last year and intended to do the same this year and I didn't appreciate having to buy another iPad because of this problem. I asked for the number for Apple's corporate customer loyalty department, and at that point a refurbished iPad was suggested and I was lucky that they had one with IOS 7.1.2.
If it is fact true that some iPads (such as iPad 3) do not have problems with IOS 8.2, then there must be some difference between the ones that do and don't have a problem. My job (now retired) was in software/systems development, and of course you encounter thousands of situations where you are trying to diagnose a problem. You are trying to control the variables and figure out which variable has triggered a problem so that you can find the root cause of the problem and fix it. It may be that there are hardware differences between models that work and don't, or it may be that a "clean" install on a used iPad isn't as clean as we think it is and does note generate a system that is identical to a new one. In this regard, I believe that there are also firmware updates that can occur, and it is possible that someone's update path could produce a different result if the clean install isn't as clean as we think. Without having an intimate knowledge of the iPad, firmware and system software installation process, all of this is just conjecture.
At the end of the day, I did what Apple recommended as a clean install, and when that didn't work, I took it into Apple and asked them for a solution. In the end, they did come thru. I give them credit for that - some companies would tell you tough ....
Personally, I think it would be much better if they allowed you to revert IOS releases as you have been able to do for the Mac OS. I have documented my whole experience and sent it to Apple Feedback and have suggested they allow you to revert. (Doesn't hurt to try to influence Apple) Obviously, there are problems with reversion, but it is a feature that I want as a customer for this type of situation. Either that or perfect software releases !
