Since it is quite obvious by now that there are no obvious "fixes" from other users, have you tried to address it with Apple?

That would be the only logical thing to do. Troubleshooting/advice are free at the Genius Bar. FWIW, being polite and describing the exact nature of your problem as well as whatever troubleshooting you've done work quite well there.

And, there always have been and will be some bugs in software releases; that is why Apple has several testing programs. And, if you took the time to read the licensing agreement, you would see that no software developer ever guarantees their software to be trouble free, although they try their best. In fact, they recently released a public beta of the next iOS version as there is absolutely no way to test software with everyone having a slightly different setup/apps/workflow.  If you're really interested in answers, sign up for the next beta and be productive rather than complaining about other users.

Not everyone is close enough to go to a Genius Bar. I for one am many miles and a ferry ride away. Before I update I go to the forum to see if there might be a problem. If there is I wait.

I'm happy that you and "Fast Rower" were successful in your visits to the Apple Store.

Replacing your iPad with one running v7.1.2 does not minimize or help with the problems many are having.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't have enough iPads running v7.1.2 to help the rest of us.

Contrary to what Meg.. says about "...the small number of users having problems ( with v8.2); do a search for "problems with v8.02...or v8.2. There are many various forums with users upset about this "upgrade".  And many users I suspect who have not joined these forums to voice their concerns.

Also, I observe Meg...'s profile which states her iPad2 is running IOS v5.1.??

    Perhaps it outdated??

Let's face reality, Apple really wants us to upgrade our devices every couple of years.

I'm also asking QUITE SCARY from Ireland to repost her most interesting comments....it appears she posted and then withdrew her post.....

Actually there are various forums (including this one) with a really small number of extremely vocal users complaining over and over and over.  We're owners just like you are.  What do you or the others expect from us?

    mcgrazz.

I realize Apple may not have enough iPads running 7.12. or be willing to swap them out as they did for me.  As I said, I empathize with the frustrated users because I was one of them.  However, I have not seen anyone posting a solution to the problem such as how to install IOS differently etc, so I saw no option other than to do a clean install of IOS and then address the situation with Apple.  I have expressed my opinions on how bad I think the impact of this release is on someone like myself - an iPad 3 owner to Apple via their feedback link.  At the end of the day, though, I wanted an iPad to use, and my only option was to go to Apple and insist that they do something about it.  If you know a better way, let us all know about it.

So your replacement solution is to whine to other iPad owners?

I could find no reference to that user in this thread - can you post a direct link please.

FWIW, you only have 15 minutes to edit your post. You cannot "withdraw" it; the only thing you can do is delete it and add a different comment.  If it is gone in its entirety, then the only conclusion is that the hosts removed it for violations of the ToU.

The user mentioned posted a something definitely in contravention of the TOU.

You will receive the email as those are instantaneous; the hosts obviously removed it afterwards.

That means it would not be a good idea for them to re-post the comments as requested by another user.

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

I have had the same issues since upgrading from 8.1.  My wifi drops off constantly, apps crash daily, battery life is half what it was.  Wishing I had not upgraded now!
