Q: SSD Migration Help
Hi Guys, I'm hoping you can help me. Ive been doing a bit of researching regarding upgrading my HDD to and SSD. Long story short I've chosen to go with a Samsung 850 Pro 512gb.
Upon research I've discovered that to get optimum performance out of the drive i should back up my current HDD state and then install Mavericks Fresh to the SSD rather than clone it. (Please correct me on any of this because I'm completely new to the performance and optimisations of SSD's)
However, after i have a the fresh version of mavericks, how do i get my apps back, and all corresponding files. for example lets say i reinstalled Ableton, can i just copy the files along with all VST's i have and everything just perform as it was? Or will i have to reinstall all the vst's??
This is my only concern really, the reason I've chosen to upgrade is because when I'm performing live sometimes i get the spinning ferris wheel, obviously this is isn't a quick solution to my problem (buying the SDD) but I'm hoping it will reduce load times and be able to handle performance issues rather than my 750gb 5400rpm HDD
Thanks Guys, Much appreciated if anyone could help
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
