How do I connect Wireless Keyboard A1016 with MacBook that is running OS 10.6.8?

I cannot get Wireless Keyboard Model A1016 to connect with my MacBook. I have OS 10.6.8 running. Bluetooth cannot make a connection. The A1016 manual does not give a passcode to use when connecting.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Frank, that may very well be an incompatibility of he keyboard. Since the iPad came out and allowed pairing of Bluetooth keyboards, there was one exclusion, the A1016 could not be paired. That may be what you are seeing with the MBP now. I am not sure where to look in my files for a code, but will do so either tonight or tomorrow morning...wife says I am a packrat and keep everything, just have to find it. But I am not too hopeful of that keyboard pairing.

Bluetooth Setup Assistant recognizes the device (wireless keyboard) but does not automatically connect. ( The A1016 does not ask for a passkey.) Passcode Options includes "Do not use a passcode with this device" which I selected. The setup assistant then returned the message: The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported."

Hoping there is a workaround.
