ATV3 will not boot after latest update/already tried restoring via iTunes.

Hi guys,

I upgraded to the latest firmware last week and the ATV3 worked fine up until today. When I plug it in, the light blinks continuously. The Apple logo shows on the screen for a brief moment then it says no HDMI signal.

I browsed this site for a solution and I saw a lot of threads with the same issue and some were resolved by following the instructions here: Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV

So I did the same but it did not work for me. I repeated the process a second time and still no luck.

My last resort before I take it in to a local repair shop was to ask the community for help, just in case there was another solution for me to try.

Is there a light in the Optical port? After you reset via iTunes, is it connected via Ethernet or Wireless?

Yes the light still blinks continuously, not rapidly though.

It is connected vie Ethernet.

Trying to restore one more time. I will update the post if anything changes.

If you have an Apple Store close by, they can do free diagnostics. If it was working prior to software update, Apple's recent update fiascos come to fore.

The same thing happened to me over the past few days. I'm unable to connect after the upgrade - very upsetting. Please let me know your outcome!

I didn't get to take the device in like I planned but I left the device unplugged (no power/hdmi/ethernet) for about 5-6 hours and when I plugged it in and turned it on, I got the Apple logo and a progress bar, I assume this was the update finalising, I may be wrong. After that it worked like normal, I haven't had any issues since.

30 seconds or so is usually enough.
