Suddenly iMovie from iLife 04 won't open. When I click the bar nothing happens and when trying to open from applications I get the error code 1000.
Is iMovie corrupted? Should I trash the iMovie folder and reinstall?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Arthur
Hello Sue
I'm using 10.2.8 not classic.
I tried iDVD and iPhoto and they are fine.
Message is
The operation could not be completed.
An unexpected error occured (error code 1000)
It just appears that iMovie is have difficulties.
Thanks
Arthur
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
The files you need to trash are found in:
-->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist
Hello again Sue
I removed the file and ran the permissions repair.
Sad to say there is no change.
iMovie will not open just the same error code.
What now?
Thanks
Arthur
That's a really odd error. I have never seen it before. It suggests there is something wrong with the iMovie application itself. Drag the iMovie application to the desktop and re-install iMovie. If that works, delete the iMovie file on your desktop.
Hello Sue
Thanks for all your suggestions and help.
I ran the hardware test - OK
Repaired disk and permissions by booting from the install disk - all appeared to be fine and yet still the silly error code for burning dvd-r from classic.
So - in despiration I trashed iMovie and all the files associated with it and then reinstalled iLife. (reinstalling just iMovie did not help)
Now all is well with iMovie.
I guess something might have be linking different applications. ???
A strange life these electrons lead.
Again, thanks Sue.
