Q: Why does my iPhone 6 pop up with this message?

Hey so I got my new iPhone 6 in the mail yesturday and i'm having trouble actually getting the phone started. Whenever I try signing in to activate my phone it comes up with this message after i enter my billing zip code and my SSN. Verizon Wireless was unable to verify your identity using the information you entered. I do everything right but it won't let me activate my iPhone. I am using the same phone number as my previous phone. I've called apple and they hooked me up with a senior advisor then they hooked me up to verizon and they didn't help me at all. The SIM card is in the iPhone and my phone on verizon is already linked I just need to get the iPhone activated. Did anyone else have this similar problem?

I know this thread is old, but I am having this exact problem when trying to activate my iPhone 7 Plus.

I called Verizon and Apple today, and after four hours on the phone nobody could fix it. Verizon Tech thinks that Apple puts this lock on here with information provided in the order. Verizon assured me the information I was using was what was on my account. Apple Support is closed until tomorrow.

How did you eventually resolve this problem?

I'm having this problem too. All the threads that start with this question seem to go cold. I'm hoping that means they resolved it but it'd be nice if someone came back and said what ultimately happened. Did Apple solve it? Or Verizon?

Both Apple and Verizon were useless last night. Verizon was convincing in some respects. They claim this is a control that Apple puts on all devices (carrier locked) ordered from them, and that Verizon does not actually do any check. Verizon just waits to see the new phone on the network and assigns the number.

This morning my wife tried an old zip code--in fact it was the zip code where we lived the last time I upgraded  my phone--and it just worked.

I know that doesn't help much. But it appears the issue is on Apple'a end. They are not capturing the correct data.

Thanks. I got the same suggestion from someone in Reddit, who might very well be you. If so, thank you again!

ME TOO!!!!!! I am having the same issue, and have been on the phone with Apple for about 11 hours now, and they STILL have not fixed the issue! This is unbelievable. They even sent a request to their "engineering" team, and they resolved the ticket as "fixed" but this issue is still there.

My iphone is completely bricked. And Apple support just makes me run in circles, having me do the same exact steps over and over again, but expecting different results. Insane.

Wow, got a lot of non-sense suggestions from Apple, and then I saw this. Using the ZIP from the last time I upgraded worked. The insane part is that the ZIP code that worked wasn't visible in either Verizon or Apple accounts anymore. THANK YOU!
