Calendar event notes entered in IOS do not sync to exchange

I had the same issue and I resolved it. The main symptom is that the calendar stopped synching (between icloud accounts) once I added a note item to the same invite. Once that happened I noticed that I received email notifications of the meeting update but no change in iOS calendars.

The issue was that the receiving iOS device had conflicting contact information in contacts app and calendar. For example, if I was not careful when I sent a calendar invite I send it to the wrong contact (e.g. J Doe versus John Doe). The name of the recipient needs to match the person in your contact app. Make sure your contact has the correct email saved.

I resolved the issue by (1) looking at the calendar invite and determining the name of the contact is sent it to (2) look for the same contact in my address book and deleted the entry (3) added the correct iCloud email to the correct recipient (4) forced refresh contact (5) force refresh the calendar app (6) close and opened both apps.

Note: this will NOT work on your old calendar events that had this issue. But will on the new events you create. DO NOT USE the cashed entries when creating a new invite. This will reinstate the conflicting calendar info and will cause the problem to reoccur.

This seemed to start on the 23rd Sept but I didn't raise it with apple support (8th Oct) since I thought it was just me.

I tried a lot more steps than listed above to try and sort this one and on different devices too (iPad Mini, Air, 4s, 5s, 5, Exchange 2003, 2010, 2013, Server 2008 R2 & 2012/2012R2 just for kicks) with no effect whatsoever.

After going through enough web-chat / phone eventually they wanted to charge to speak to enterprise support as Exchange Activesync is an enterprise product.

Still not working in 8.1.1.

Works fine on iOS 7 🙂

I've given up adding calendar notes on the iOS devices, even with the workaround it's a pain!

Same here on iPhone 5. It all started with iOS 8. Was hoping Apple fixed this with 8.1.1, but no they didn´t... what a pain!!!

This workaround is still a lot of work around this bug- Apple should simply fix this bug, that´s it.

I had the same problem with my iPhone6 and I deleted my Gmail, reinstalled, turned off the phone and then on again and it's all good, everything is there! Hope this helps someone.

By "deleting" you mean removing your Google account from Settings App --> Mail, Calendar, Contacts?

Sounds really strange. Can we compare Google´s function with Exchange/ActiveSync?

Well it´s not really an option for me, cause the account is used for EVERYTHING. It would take hours to reconfigure all the stuff. And even then there´s no guarantee... perhaps anyone else suffering from this clear Apple bug can try?

Go in - turn "off "contacts, calendars and notes and leave Mail "on"

delete mail, then go back in and click Add Account, choose whatever mail you use, sign in and you are done!

I partly followed your instructions and removed the calendar function from the Exchange account (then all synced calendars were removed from the iDevice). Then switched it back on, waited for finishing the initial full sync of all events. Then tested it by creating a new event with some notes. Checked the notes on the sync web service and other connected endpoints ==> no difference.

Apple made this bug, Apple can AND SHOULD fix this bug.

My instructions said to turn everything offexcept for mail and then delete "mail" not calendar. I think you are putting too much thought into this.

It's very simple and like i said it takes less than a minute to do. There's nothing to sync...

How to DELETE mail? I can turn off mail, contacts, calendar and tasks in my Exchange account settings. You´re talking about a Gmail account, right?
