What if you havent recieved an email that was sent to your alternate email saying you can reset your icloud password?

Hi, a couple of days ago my local sprint store updated me to the ios 8 and then when they were done they asked me for my icloud email and password i gave them the email. I had no clue what the password was for the icloud. So they gave me the number to the applecare center. I called and i talked to one guy then he said to call to call back the next day so i did. The next guy told me that the only way to get around to getting my icloud password was to get an original receipt from sprint of the day i bought my phone. So I went up and went back home and called again then a lady answered and told me to put my icloud id in to the apple website and press forget password then do the email authentication and it should send to my alternate email with-in 24 hours. well it has been over 24 hours. What should i do???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
