How/can I put the real AOL/Yahoo icon on desktop?

How/can I put the real AOL/Yahoo icon on desktop? I can put an ugly link on the desktop, but its not the real icon..is this possible to do? I like dock, but I would prefer them on the desktop. hanks, Bill

The file in the Dock is merely a shortcut to an actual file in the Finder. Click once on the dock icon, and do not let go, and it will have a Show in Finder option in the menu that pops up. Select that, and then Make Alias from the File menu. Drag the alias to the desktop.
