is the flashlight safe to use/

i heard that some flashlight apps are really malware. is the flashlight on the iphone that was pre installed safe?

I think you may be thinking of Android apps. iPhone apps are only available through the App Store (unless you've jailbroken your phone) and are fairly well vetted. Also, because of the way the iOS isolates one app from the other, there really isn't any malware for an unjailbroken iOS device.


The only danger I can see from the built in flashlight feature is if you shine it in your (or someone else's) eye. It's very bright.

It seems unlikely that Apple would install malware in the guise of a flashlight on their own products, potentially doing great harm to their reputation. Again, I think you've heard stories about utility apps for Android phones that are malware in disguise. This is not true for iOS devices.
