Deleting individual messages in iMessage.

I know it can be frustrating when you want to delete a message but cannot figure out how to do so in a new operating system. Please follow the steps in the attached article for information on how to complete this task.

How do I delete a message?

1. To delete a message, tap and hold the message bubble, then tap More.
2. Tap Delete All to delete all the messages. Or tap to select the messages you want to delete, then tap .

After you delete a message, you can recover it only by restoring from a backup.

After deleting a message the time of the deleted message still displays after it was deleted. Can I eliminate the time stamp from the deleted message?

Spoke with a rep at Apple today and she confirmed this is the result of iOS8. They are aware of this "issue"…but stopped short of calling it a bug.

I have noticed this same problem as well on my Macbook Pro. It deleted everything instead of allowing me to delete a single message.

Has anyone figured out how to delete an individual message on an iphone 6? There is no icon of a trash can to allow you to delete one message? Only option available is delete all. Poor programming??? Bug????? This is version 8.4.1 (12H321) of the software.

I'm hazy on details because I currently have no messages. Bear with me. In the upper left corner, click on "Edit." You will then be able to select specific messages for deletion.

Thanks for help. I did a chat with apple and after she had me close open window (there were several) and then go to messages the trash icon appeared and solved the problem. All is good.
