First there is no iOS for iMac. So I'm assuming you're running Mavericks on it.

Create an album of the photos you want in the slideshow and manually arrange them in the order you want. Next, select all of the photos in the album, click on the Share button at the bottom and then on the Slideshow button.

That should get the photos into the slideshow in the same order as they are in the album.

You should be able to select an album that has the photos sorted the way you want and use the Share ➙ Slideshow buttons route to create a slideshow that has the photos in the same order as they were in the album.

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

This is what you said and it implies you copied them from Events and dragged an icon of whatever you copied them to the slideshow. Not that you used the Share and slideshow button after deleting the album(?).

Give this a go:

1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.

2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

3 - try creating a new slideshow.

Ok thanks for the help but im still having a problem with the order that the photos have transferred into the slideshow, from the album. I am using iOS maverick 10.9.5 on my mac but i had sent the question from my iPad, so sorry if that was confusing. Is there another setting somewhere, which i should alter? its very frustrating to upload my photos in an order only to create a slideshow which just randomly throws the photos together. ...

I have sorted them now by title, and tried to sort by date, but as they are all taken on the same date, it doesn't fix the problem. their are a total of 95 short video, and photos in the album, which are in order on the last import, but as soon as i try to play them in a slideshow, or try to create an album, then a slideshow from the album they still play in a random order, ?I have also tried to create the slideshow from the drop down menu, as well as the way u suggested, but its no better?

Are you using an instant slideshow and playing directly from the album? That is buggy.

Try to create a regular slideshow project from the album. A regular slideshow will play exactly as you arrange the photos in the filmstrip.

hi again, im not sure what u mean regular slide show, i have used the drop down menu, from the heading albums, and then used the system that old toad suggested, did u read the other posts? i don't have any function that lets me create a regular or irregular slide show? i have created an album in the order i wanted, then when i try to create a slideshow, either from the share button or from the drop down menu, , the photos are randomly placed in no particular order, which is crap, when you want to see the day as it was, morning noon and night . Do u understand my problem.? its quite bizarre why its randomly ordering the photos. They have been uploaded in order, placed in the album in order, and when i even try to play a slideshow from the ordered album, they play in a random order?its 95 photos so to sit for the duration of sorting them all out manually is a a touch annoying. Have i missed something in settings or am i just being dumb by wanting to play my slide show as it happened. it was a my 7 yr old birthday so u understand it should start at the beginning with presents being opened and then being played with, candles being blown out, and then cake being eaten, etc etc..u know what i mean???

Tthat's excactly what I have been doing?mmmmmm, do u read my replies ? It seems to me you don't understand. I am trying to make a slide show, a regular slide show, as u call it. I have done as you said, and tried various other ways, to create a slideshow in the order that the photos are in the album, the eve, the last download, all have failed to copy the original photo sequence, that I have the photos in. they are in chronological order in the album, in the last import and in the events on my mac, but when I create a slideshow, they go back to random order. I can't be plainer or more straight forward than that. Is this normal? I think not which is why I am trying to find a solution. To tell me repeatedly to create a slideshow by creating an album in the order I want, and then clicking the create slideshow link at the bottom of the screen is just not working? Do you follow me so far

well! I have now done as you suggested again, rebuilt the iPhoto data base by starting iPhoto with the command and option keys held down, then used the 4 th option, and tried to create a new regular slideshow, using the album, then clicking the share button and then clicking the slideshow button and yes, it creates a slideshow all of its own, in total random order, aaarrrrggghhh....strange as i can play the slideshow in the normal ordered sequence i want, when i select my last download, then click the slideshow button at the bottom middle of the screen????it seems that however, if i create an album as you suggested a while ago, then use the share button and crate slideshow button, it mixes all the photos up...I want to thank you for painstakingly trying to solve this for me , but im sad to say its just not to be...the kids birthday just has to be in random order, or i guess i have to sit down and manually drag all 95 photos into place on the photo bar at the top of the screen..thanks anyway..
