Q: Why will my Mac not recognise my Canon wireless printer?

My iMac OSX 10.9.5 cannot detect my Canon MG6450 wireless printer, although I have downloaded the printer driver - successfully, I'm told.  The printer is connected to the the router and internet.  Any ideas, anyone?

It has been solved! We took both the printer and our MAC to the seller, who was able to connect it in no time. When we got back home, again it wouldn't work! We couldn't find the printer's IP address because the router didn't provide an IP address (something with IPV4 and IPV6, I was told). We got a new router, but that one urned out to be faulty as it was not allowing any wifi settings - not even for our MAC (yes, it was Friday 13th ), so with the third router, we plugged it in, entered the right settings with the help desk assistant of our provider and IT WORKED! It took us only 4 months to figure out what was to blame I hope this info is useful for everyone and thank you again for your time and effort. Have a nice weekend!
