iTunes store says not enough storage. I have plenty. Help!

I have 199 of 200 gigs free. I bought more storage, thinking I needed it to download a movie I bought. iTunes store keeps telling me can't download movie, not enough storage. Any ideas? Thank you.

I suspect you are misunderstanding the error.

iCloud is Apple's server based storage - this is used for iCloud & device backups etc - this is what you payed for.

The device has it's own local storage (usually a hard disk or flash memory based storage), which I suspect is getting full. Buying iCloud storage will not alter how much data you can have on the device.

You need to provide more information - what type of device is this, a Mac, a PC, an iOS device or something else?

You can view the amount of free space that you currently have on your iPad via Settings > General > About > Available, and you can see the amount of space that each app is taking up via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under the 'storage' heading) - the size of the film should be shown on its description page in the store, if the film is in HD format then it could be over 5 gig in size.

You can copy iTunes downloads over to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the iPad and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option - so if you currently have films and/or TV programmes on your iPad then you could copy them over to your computer and then delete them from your iPad to make room for the new film

King_Penguin is right.

I'd simply verify that you want to copy your purchases to the Mac/PC version of iTunes so that you have your own copy of the files. Purchases can be re-downloaded from the store, however sometimes they are taken down from the store so you cannot re-download them!

Making your own backups on a disk is the safest option before you delete them from the iPad. Then copy them to another disk for safekeeping.
