my rented movie is choppy on my tv

Trying to watch a rented movie from iTunes via apple TV on my home TV but the picture is choppy. Sound is fine but the picture is constantly jumping, pausing and freezing. This has never happened before. We rent movies from itunes all the time and it's usually fine but this unmatchable..
