Oct 5, 2014 9:28 AM in response to jeanfromcaryby Drew Reece,The simple answer is 'restore the files that have gone missing'.
The actual process will involve you finding the files from a backup & copying them into the correct iTunes media folders.
Do you have any backups? Are they Time Machine backups or other full copies?
You can see the file path for the missing file by getting info on the file in iTunes (Select a track & use File > Get Info…) The path is shown in the Summary tab. The file needs to be restored to that location. If you have some files that are used in iTunes but are stored outside the iTunes media folder I'd suggest restoring the files & then using the consolidate feature (File > Library, Organise Library) that will move all files into the library, it is safer & simplest to store all the files in the iTunes folder.
This has some additional explanations…

If you have no backups you will need to either do data recovery or re-rip any CD's you had.
