new os 8 a catastrophe on my ipad

I have a two yrs old tablet. no problems all this time. last week i've downloaded os8 and the tablet went from fairly fast to painfully slow to the point that freezes every hour or so. all these while surfing the web. I don't do games, I don't download movies etc ... read news, email, utube ... this kinda things. nothing heavy.

I am now close to throw the towel and move over towards an android tablet.

I just can't take it anymore. I am old enough to remember the dial-up times. well ... this is how my Ipad works now after downloading "an update" of the OS, namely os8 . my mind is pretty much set on what I'm going to do next but a word of advice would be appreciated.
