No longer able to connect to GarageBand on OS X with iOS-based Logic Pro Remote

I think this happened with the last iOS 8.0.2 update. Had been using it with no problems until then and it had performed admirably.

Equipment:

- iPad 3 running iOS 8.0.2, connecting to iMac directly with the USB/30-pin connector

- iMac running OS X 10.9.5

Anyone having a similar issue?

iPad, iOS 7

For any who have had this identical issue, here's the fix directly from Apple (appreciate Christopher from Apple's fast answer to this question):

Go to the Mac Desktop running GarageBand and navigate to the following directory:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/

You can quickly navigate there using the “Go” menu in Finder -> Go To Folder (shift-command-G), then copy this path:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/

In the Preferences folder should be a file named "com.apple.garageband10.cs”.

Make sure GarageBand is not running and delete the "com.apple.garageband10.cs” file.

Relaunch GarageBand and now try connecting Logic Remote.

This worked for me!

Similar Problem!

iPad Air ios 8.0.2 can't connect to macbook pro 10.8.5 running Garageband 11.

The above fix doesn't work because the file

"~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/"

doesn't exist in 10.8.5.

I've tried everything I could find on the web/forums and nothing is working to date!

Please Advise!!

Anxious to get working....

Thanks in Advance

the file in preferences

com.apple.garageband10

does not exist

Since you are running GarageBand '11 and not the newer GarageBand 10, you will not have a GarageBand 10 preferences file.

Quit GarageBand and try to clear GarageBand '11 's cache as well:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.garageband

And is there a file "com.apple.garageband.cs” in ~/Library/Preferences ?

And restart the computer or log off and on after you removed the files from the Preferences and and Caches.

Léonie,

Thanks for the reply.

Followed thru on each of your suggestions (there was the file "com.apple.garageband.cs" in the prefs folder), then restarted: no change.

All I get after a looonnng searching process on the iPad is "No Mac running Logic, GarageBand or MainStage was found".

Very disconcerting.....

If you have any other advice, I'd love to hear it.....

Thanks again,

William
