The Original 802.11b Airport card could only do WEP for Security, the Second iteration could do WPA also, but if your Router uses WPA2 you're out of luck, you'd have to lower the Security or use Ethernet.
Other than that, might try this...
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

Oct 6, 2014 12:49 PM in response to BDAquaby be236,Thank you. I will give this a try. I think I have my Wifi Router set to use WPA2. Let me try to downgrade it to WPA (don't want to go down to WEP, though), and see if it works.
Originally I thought that speed (802.11b/g/n) was the issue, but you're saying it's the encryption method (eg, my current original Airport card in the PB G4) is the problem that it can't handle WPA2, huh? Ok...

Oct 6, 2014 8:18 PM in response to BDAquaby be236,Ok, I tried both WPA-PSK with AES and TKIP on my Wireless router and it didn't work. (It was never set to WPA2 by the way).
The G4 would see my network and says something like "Enter your WPA password" but when I do that, I get "invalid password" error.
If I switch to WEP on my Wifi router, then I can connect to my network just fine.
So, what's going on? Is my airport card (firmware 9.52) still too old? Do I need a firmware upgrade, if so where can I get it?
