FaceTime won't work on my MacBook Pro. Help?

I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out what is wrong with the FaceTime on my MacBook Pro. It works fine on my iPhone 5s and it used to work on my iPad. Now, I can't get it to work on my iPad or my MacBook without getting the following message: "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
