After reinstalling Mac OS X 10.7.5 I've lost sound in iTunes

I've checked the settings in the Sound part of System Preferences so that the "internal speakers" are selected. No sound comes through them, nor through the headphones. But for other audio or video playback, the sound is perfect on my MacBook Pro (mid-2009 model). Any suggestions?

Hi Alan,

If I'm understanding you correctly, the issue in question is only happening in iTunes, and is occuring with both the built-in speakers and headphones. Since iTunes has multiple volume controls outside of the system level volume, you may want to double check that one of them has not been turned down:

iTunes 11 for Mac: Adjust the volume
