Everytime i try to download the new update for my macbook pro, it says that its waiting for other installations to be completed but there are none. then when i go to the app store i go to updates and and it says waiting...

If you are using Snow Leopard, then check your Software Updates, not the App Store, for software updates.
thats what i did first. I clicked on the apple then clicked updates and it searches then it says waiting for other installations to complete. The download wont start until the other one(s) finish but i dont know what those downloads are
It's possible these other updates were never installed by you. It's also possible that the updates won't begin until you restart your computer. You may want to look at Troubleshooting Mac OS X installation and software updates (Mac OS X v10.6 and earlier) for possible help.
