unknown caller id issue with AT&T iphone 6
anyone having an issue receiving calls on their AT&T iphone6 and the caller id says "unknown"?

If caller ID says "unknown" it means the caller has blocked sending their caller ID. It has nothing to do with your phone.
Completely false. This is a real issue with the iPhone 6. On my iPhone 5, I never had problems with this and yet now I regularly receive "Unknown" Caller ID notices from callers that are identified properly for users that don't have the iPhone 6.

What carrier are you using? I'm trying to see if all the carriers are having this issue or just AT&T iphone6's. thanks for your input.
Same issue. For several years, I've used my past iPhones as the destination phone of my forwarded work extensions on days I work from home. When I received such a call, showed up as my company's caller ID. Since getting iPhone 6, all I see is the "Unknown" when such calls come through. Did a test scenario to point forwarded calls to my land line instead of iPhone...caller ID shows up fine. Also, when I call my wife's iPhone 6 from the office, her display shows as unknown as well. I actually even have this number in our phones as an actual contact as well.
I have ATT as carrier.
AT&T. And I'm in the Chicago area as well. Curious whether it is carrier specific and/or geography specific.
Also seeing the same issue. I work for a business in downtown Chicago and our users that were recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 are seeing the same problems. We use Cisco Unified Mobility which mirrors incoming office calls to mobile devices and every single call shows up Unknown. And it's not just those calls. When the issue first arose, I almost missed a call from my doctor's office because the call direct to my iPhone came in as Unknown and I thought it was from a telemarketer.

Same problem here, iPhone 6, AT&T, Chicago land area, iOS Version 8.0.2(12A405) primarily notice the problem with calls that are forwarded from work extension to cell phone.
Exact same issue. iPhone 6 with AT&T. I am in Chicago and Kenosha, WI. It is not every iPhone 6 with AT&T. I have held co-workers iPhone 6 with AT&T, called them from my work phone and up pops my name. It seem to be calls from certain VoIP or similar systems.
So frustrating as I use this to screen work calls!
I called AT&T yesterday and they claimed an email came out yesterday on this and a fix is being worked on. We shall see.
I'm having the same issue with my new iphone 6, however, my carrier is Verizon Wireless. Apple is wondering if it is the SIM card, so Verizon is sending me a new one.

It looks like this issue is tied to the new VoLTE (voice over LTE) and how the carriers handle passing caller id through their networks. Chicago is the first market testing this new technology. The carriers are scrambling to get this working correctly across the board. Hopefully we will be seeing caller id in the near future. Thanks for all your input, it has helped escalate this issue with both Apple & AT&T.
I'm having the same issue in Minnesota. I work for a large employer and since upgrading to iPhone 6 calls from our corporate phone system now show up as "Unknown," as well as many other numbers. Very irritating as I use my phone for work and now can't tell when it's a work call.
I Discovered today that it was the "advanced LTE" setting on my Verizon wireless account that was causing this issue for me. As soon as I disabled that, the caller ID started showing for my company's phone numbers and the unknown ID went away.
Did you actually have to call Verizon or did you just go to settings on the iPhone 6 and turn off "Enable LTE"?
