Emails mixed up

I am using an iPad 2 and have recently upgraded to iOS 8.0.2. I have a problem with the mail app that precedes the iOS update. My emails are getting mixed up - in the sense that the from and subject of email of one email woukd show as the header for content received from another sender. So John might send me send me email with the subject line "weather" and the content "it is sunny today" and Jill might send me an email with the subject "how are you" and the content "hope all is well". If I delete both and try to open the two emails in my trash folder John's weather email woukd show Jill's "hope all is well" message and vice versa. I have two gmail accounts. The problem started in one and I'm now noticing it in the second. I'm not sure whether this is also a problem in either of the inboxes - have not noticed anything so far but dead worried it might spread to jumble my inbox too. I'd be very grateful for advice on what might be causing the problem and what some of the possible solutions might be. Many thanks. Rana

It isn't just iOS. I have had the same trouble in the past couple of weeks with Mail running on my MacBook. The subject for one email appears over the body of another, and vice versa. This is from a Gmail account, so perhaps the issue is one of others I've noticed involving Apple Mail and Gmail — for example, messages marked by Gmail as junk sorting into my Junk Mail instead of the folder where my Mail rule should send them.

For any interested Apple employee, I'm running Mail version 7.3 (1878.6) on OS X 10.9.5.

If you want to get this to an Apple employee, you won't do that here. This forum is EXCLUSIVELY for "users helping other users" and Apple Support does not keep track of issues here or interact. If you want to reach Apple, they have several ways ...

Take a look here ...

Mail (Mavericks): Rebuild mailboxes

That only works on the desktop version and for things that are scrambled inside that program. It doesn't do anything for the server. SO ... that means it will not work for anything in the iOS Mail app. You can also delete that mail accout on your iOS app and it will rebuild the information again, once you enter your mail account information back in again.

Aside from that, if it's a scrambled "mail app" itself, you'll have to replace the mail app, but you don't know if it is or not, until you check this other step.

Hi when I search for a name or email address in mail- i get a string of different email trails included in the search. If I cut and paste an email address into the mail search bar I should only get that email address as results but I have several other email addresses which are totally random appearing in the results as well- it has only happened since the latest update but is driving me mad
